Digital Twin Technology (DTT) also called as digital mirror or digital mapping is used to provide an accurate virtual and real time representations of a physical object and simulation of operational processes. Today, DT is widely an accepted technology by the manufacturing and service industries to understand the customer requirements and to build an efficient model and product by utilizing the resources optimally. This technology gives a rich and enhanced representation remotely by presenting the dynamic behaviour of real time object. A virtual replica model of a real-world object is shown through the constant data transmission letting the digital version of the object to happen simultaneously with the physical one. This technology is also useful for quick identification and evaluation of defects in the design and developed model. In the areas like operations and supply chain management, particularly the role and importance of DT in terms of operations traceability, transport maintenance, remote assistance, asset visualization, and design customization. This technology is an advanced approach to better understand, use, monitor, and improve the process and system in a wide range of applications, including manufacturing, automotive, avionics, agriculture, civil and infrastructure, health care, and many more. This technology is based on the use of data and models, and their development requires the integration of different technologies for diverse purposes, including design-space exploration, virtual commissioning, and predictive maintenance. Their development is a multi-disciplinary process that requires the collaboration of experts from different disciplines and application domains. The three main features of digital twin technology are data acquisition, data modelling and data application. There are technologies like IoT, AI, XR and cloud which can be used simultaneously to collect and store real-time data, obtain information to provide valuable insights and create digital representations of the physical object. The DT technology very interestingly has captured the interest and imagination of developers, managers and researchers worldwide, for its numerous business applications. This issue encourages unique and creative proposals from academicians, technology enthusiasts, scholars and researchers to submit the experimental and theoretical frameworks, empirical analysis, detailed studies and novel innovative models.
